Springboard 2001: Silicon Valley's Women's Venture Capital Forum Announces Selection of Two-Dozen Presenting Companies

February 1st Event to Showcase the West Coast's Most Promising Women-Led Technology and Life Sciences Startups

The Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE) and the National Women's Business Council today announced the names of 24 women-led businesses chosen for the Springboard 2001: Silicon Valley women's venture capital forum.
This select group of entrepreneurs will present their business plans before the region's top investors with the purpose of seeking first-, second- and third round investments in their high tech and life science businesses. The event is scheduled to take place at the Oracle Conference Center in Redwood Shores on February 1, 2001.
"The current investment climate in Silicon Valley has made it challenging for even the best companies to find funding -- and even more important for investors to quickly find high quality investment opportunities," says Denise Brosseau, CEO and co-founder of FWE. "Springboard 2001: Silicon Valley presenters have been through a rigorous screening and training process and the final two-dozen companies represent an excellent group of high growth businesses ready to move to the next level of success."
The Springboard 2001: Silicon Valley venture conference is co-hosted by FWE and the National Women's Business Council, and is part of a national series of events to increase investments in women-led firms. The one hundred presenters at the previous forums in January, July and November of 2000 have raised over $350 million dollars in equity financing for their businesses.
The February 1 forum is sponsored by more than 60 top Silicon Valley venture firms, technology companies and service providers. A diverse committee of venture capitalists and consultants chose the presenting companies from a pool of 335 applicants. The select group of entrepreneurs received in-depth coaching for the eight weeks leading up to the event to further refine their businesses into compelling investment opportunities.
In addition to presenting their businesses to an audience of over 250 corporate, venture and angel investors, MoneyHunt (http://www.moneyhunt.com), the national public television show for entrepreneurs, will be screen-testing participants to select one finalist to present their business before a national TV audience in the coming months.
